I'm guessing they'lll exec produce too under their Rough House shingle so I'm sure their deal is better than the average writer-for-hire. But I think he wants to direct films too; he just directed an episode of Vice Principals for the first season. But hey, I wouldn't turn down any acting jobs if I were him.

Pretty sure he's just writing. He's made suggestions in a lot of interviews that he's sort of riding out the acting thing until people get tired of him and turn to writing/directing. That's what he went to film school for and if you look at his career, he really fell into the acting thing by necessity and it just

Re: College rock/indie rock — there was definitely a period where they were used interchangeably.
Re: MTV, true, but I think there was still a clear distinction between the artists who were committed to the so-called "indie rock ethos" (which was vaguely something to do with DIY culture more than any specific sound),

Anyone who sounds like they could have opened for R.E.M. at any point in their run.

'80s indie rock is "college rock"…'90s indie rock is "indie rock" which was short for "alternative bands that didn't get played on the radio/MTV and ostensibly didn't want to be"

They do owe him after nicking the Good Times bass line.

I kind of love how weird and un-Mario that game is.

God they better keep the original Queen versions and not get contemporary bands to remake them or, even worse, get the remaining Queen members to redo them with Paul Rodgers.

It's really the perfect movie for a remake. Good concept with lots of potential, some really cool scenes but overall too silly, self-serious and dated to be a classic.

DGG might seem like a weird choice until you remember that season 2 of Vice Principals is supposed to be as much a horror/thriller as comedy, and DGG directed every episode.

True. like a lot of my favorite '90s indie filmmakers (Carl Franklin, John Dahl), seems like he's turned to episodic TV. Maybe the fact that he's still getting to make features at all is a win?

Yeah he's been taking anonymous studio jobs for some time now. At one point Sean Penn wanted Foley to be the Scorsese to his De Niro but Foley wasn't into the idea. I think that's kind of a shame.

it was a layup, you had no choice. I'm more ashamed of those who are liking it than I am you for making it.

Yeah, Williams was not in the business of turning down shitty scripts at that time.

Goddammit

James Foley's career turn kinda bums me out. At Close Range, Glengarry Glen Ross, After Dark, My Sweet are all fantastic. Even Fear was a well-made thriller. Glad he's getting work though.

"I am Azriel, prince of Darkness!"
"Shut up, TODD! Hey you better take that shit off your face before we meet Grandma at the Olive Garden! Hey Stephanie, you look HOT!"
Probably the best thing Bruer did on SNL

Fair point. Also all the gossip surrounding what a control freak he is can't help.

Wait why is he a douchebag?

I noticed that too. My wife was like, "is that his thing?!" Movie completely holds up, btw. Mike Myers is somehow underrated at this point.
