That sucks. I love Gould's podcast. Seems like this is a dream project of his, being a huge horror/monster movie fan. But sometimes people aren't the best at the thing they love the most.

The book City of Nets basically is pretty eye opening in terms of what people in power (not just producers and directors but stars) got away with in old Hollywood.
Yeah, seems weird to sort of gloss over it since it's what jumpstarted the Ocean's thing in the first place.
I think Henson just had a lot of friends that were willing to help out (probably cause he worked with them). I remember some Clash of the Titans footage that scared the shit out of me.
The "Jon He Does It" (a play on "Howie Does It" the short-lived Howie Mandel prank show) prank scene is out of this world funny. "He shit himself! Bonus! BONUS!"
They were or are a comedy team so that's a fair mistake
I remember on Stern maybe 10 years ago they were wondering whether he'd had "the surgery" and Burns called in and told Stern how his cock was way bigger than his. It was pretty hysterical.
Oh yeah, they could never get rights for that stuff, but they still had interviews with all the cast and whoever else. It just seemed to take up a disproportionate amount of time.
Is it exclusively 13 year olds who signed this? I feel like this is something I would've thought of at 13 and been like WHY DOESN'T THAT HAPPEN? because kids are dumb.
Slocombe was such a genius. I don't think Kamniski came close to capturing his style (which he was apparently trying to do). Wish Spielberg would consider another DP occasionally.
"Okaying the script" is kind of huge, especially in this case. They worked on the script off and on for 15 years and went through at least six writers and numerous drafts.
Helps that Gingrich has a PhD from Tulane in Modern European history. He actually taught college for a good while. I think his not receiving tenure led to him being a giant asshole.
Ha, answers my question from above
Was the Frank Darabont script really that good or was that just AICN fanboys being upset over something they know nothing about?
USSR did a lot of horrific shit before the Cold War, too
If you just tell people to google "Holodomor" that usually shuts them up.
It's a very well made, well-acted and entertaining movie but yeah, the ideas are 100% dogshit.
Black definitely has the right oratorical voice. I'm not sure he could make himself be as unlikable as Ignatius needs to be.
Hughes may have eventually evolved to that level. It's been suggested one of the main reasons he dropped out of the biz is at least in part because of Candy's death. If Candy had stuck around, maybe they'd have kept working together.
Yeah, if you had a slightly chubby actor and made him bigger, it'd work. I think a young Philip Seymour Hoffman could've done it justice.
