Well I work in an academic setting, but it’s sort of friendly/ officious. There’s a push towards “collegial”, which is basically cheery but polite. I will sometimes say to a superior “would you be a star and send me x”, usually some document I need.

Every single one of those comments is both awful and mystifying. I’m most bothered by “such an original guy” because... what? Why?
