It's about time Chris Pratt got that Oscar nomination.

That's a good point, but I don't think that seeing this scene as problematic means they didn't take anything else away from the movie.

This article, and this scene, really interest me. I think that Ernesto's race was more a means to an end, to prove something about how a mother's wisdom can manifest itself over time. So while I don't think it was the most important aspect of the "subplot," I see how his race could prove to be a controversial point
