Apple can't force them to do it, if they do then there would be a backlash from 90% of the readers on this site. It is up to the developers to do that.

That usually happens when you have a slow connection. I always have a fast connection so all my emails are always fully downloaded.

I don't find that to be a problem. I use the double tap space for periods and let autocorrect handle the rest.

This isn't just for cars. It was originally designed for cell phones where you can actually feel elements on the screen such as buttons, keyboard characters, and so on. This way you can type on a touchscreen phone but still get the feedback of a physical keyboard.
