I can usually manage 1-2 trips.  Unless it’s plumbing related.  My blood pressure has decreased since I resigned myself to the fact that any plumbing project will require at least 3 trips to the store.

It looks weird because of how the wheels fit into the arches. Basically, the arches hug the tires too closely fore and aft and leave too much space above. This could be solved by lowering it, opening the arches or fitting bigger tires - which would probably require opening the arches.

Nobody needs this.  If you think you need this, you should reexamine your life in general.

Are you F’n kidding me? Who the hell has time to do this? Are people just making up shit to do? Is everybody out of real problems?

Gonna have to respectively disagree. This particular year of ‘Bird, to me, looks like an Oldsmobile Toronado roofied a Lincoln Continental resulting in this abomination.  While I love the style of both of those cars, this thing is akin to toothpaste and orange juice - great on their own but a disaster together.

While I can appreciate the original, I think that we should chalk this one up to a miss on Detroit’s part and a win for Mr. Dye. By far, the best part of the Vista Cruiser is the upper half and, for me, you really can’t beat the sleek, space-age lines of the Bullet ‘Bird.

I KNOW that my kids are using too much toothpaste - the whole bathroom is slathered with blue goo. It’s like someone murdered a goddamn Smurf in there.

Things I learned/confirmed from this posting:

I just read a biography of him that talked about this. He was weirdly also very anti-war. He very much opposed WWI and saw war in general as unnecessary and a way for capitalists to profit from death.

Am I alone on this?

You didn’t say but I’m willing to bet that it was equipped with the 4.9l (300 ci) I6? I can’t imagine an SBF enduring that punishment. I think the fact that the 4.9 has 7 main bearings whereas most I6's only have 5 contributes greatly to its resilience. Throwing a rod on a V8 results in the broken rod interfering with

Actually, the return side of the PS steering system runs at a fairly low pressure - at least on the recirculating ball type steering gear in your Jeep. The only pressure required is to get the fluid back into the reservoir. More modern designs may have higher pressure due to restrictions in line size, etc. but still

One of my favorite movies! I discovered it buried in late night cable when I was in jr. high (I’m 39) and tried to tell all of my friends about it. They all thought I was crazy and that the movie was lame.

Seriously, who steals one of these things. While they are great trucks, they ain’t exactly rare or expensive. Any you pull yard has parts the same as or cheaper than CL.

I love the J-trucks. They look like the designer was told “we need a truck!” and his reply was “but I broke my french curve and all I have is a straightedge to draw with”...

Allvum.

I’m right there with you.  I could talk cars, construction, tools, woodworking, metalworking, etc. all day.  Unfortunately, most of the guys I associate with now (parents of my kids friends) are sports nerds or computer nerds.  We still hang out and talk and sometimes it’s about one of my interests but it never gets

“I’m driving a big ass truck...they’re probably talking to the other idiots in those tiny cars.”

This is a good point. What really needs to be considered is the entire environmental impact of rebuilding an old drivetrain and putting it in a new body/frame vs. the manufacturing of a new drivetrain.
