Swedish meat balls and Shrimp Salad... yum...
The sun moves at a constant speed across the sky regardless of where you are on the earth. The trick is the angle the sun is approaching the horizon. The angle depends on where you are and what time of the year—If you are in the far north of the globe and it is summer time, the sun isn't moving towards the horizon. …
The article from yesterday was about a guy who's business was technical writing. I would expect that spelling and grammar are core skills for anyone he hires.
Nice boss is not a good boss. If people aren't doing their job, it is the responsibility of the boss to tell them "stop doing that. If you keep doing that I'm going to fire you". And follow through. The "Boss" sets the expectation of what is acceptable at work—Nice people have problems doing that sometimes because…
In areas with hard water you don't want the water to dry on the paint, otherwise you will get scale deposits which can etch into the paint and cause permanent damage.
I was hoping for some tips on setting up my own torrent tracker that I can limit to just my friends. Does anyone know of good Open source software that does that?
"you'll make a few pennies-on-the-dollar"
I had to "unlike" LifeHacker on FB because it was spamming my Facebook feed. One or two top stories a day would be ok. Every story posted to LH showing up on my Facebook page is to much.
I'm going to "un-like" life hacker because of all the spam in my facebook feed. I'm ok with one or two articles a day, but the current volume is way to much.
If apple doesn't refresh the mac pro soon I'll probably try a high end hackintosh.
I would have dropped the streaming. NetFlix streaming selection sucks balls and I could get the same level of service from Amazon prime for effectively free. The DVD service is the only way to go unless you want to pay $5 or more per movie to stream from Amazon, iTunes or some other pay-per-view service.
Yes, I've experienced that several times. I've never thought of it as "recursive", but I guess that's a good way to describe it.
I've been lucky enough to travel extensively through my life. I've picked up some pretty good travel wisdom.
Although Europeans will never admit it, English is the common language there. I remember being on an Air France flight and the flight attendant told someone something in French, the guy responded in some other language and then immediately they both switched to English without missing a beat.
So many years ago (1980's I think) it used to be that corporations had a CEO, the guy that was in charge of running the company. Then there was a Chairman of the board—The guy that represented the shareholders/owners and decided if the CEO should keep his job and how much he should get paid. As I remember, these…
I have developed software for flight management systems as well as navigation and com radios. The issue with electronics being on is that a broken or poorly made or designed electronic device can emit RFI in practically any spectrum—they don't even have to be "radios" to emit radio interference. The Nav radios…
I used to be a huge TiVo fan, but they have disappointed me the past few years. The mp3 streamer on my Tivo 3 HD still chokes on any mp3 that has a tag. You can't tivo to go anything that is HD. The premier was a big yawn of an update. I never did get what the upgrade was—looks just like a tivo 3—I think they just…
From a logical perspective you might be right. However from a social perspective, you invoke the adage of "if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem". If you want to shoot down someone's debatable solution to a problem then please be prepared to provide an alternate solution.
@Yarr!: and that testing would still be valid today if we were still using 12" screens. Now If I'm working on my 30" cinima display in the lower right corner I have to go all the way up to the upper right corner of the display to access a menu. That's just dumb. — I didn't even mention what you have to do if you are…
