One thing that always puzzles me is that folks seem to approach these concepts from the perspective of their own empirical experience—with such familiar, human-experience-scale-based ideas as “outside,” “inside,” “before” and “after” the universe. But if spacetime is (as I hear it is) a singular, indivisible manifold…
