Well, if we shoved him off a cliff, we American taxpayers would lose out on the opportunity to spend between $30-60k per year sheltering him, housing him, and keeping him from either hanging himself or being beaten to death by other inmates!

I suppose there’s some sort of societal good in locking him up for the rest of his life as opposed to just giving him a swift shove off a high cliff but in a case like this it’s pretty hard to see it.
