They need to make them all read the March trilogy by Rep. John Lewis. It’s graphic novels too so you don’t need to worry about advanced reading skills.

Hahaha, what the fuck is this? God forbid any of those recruits actually talk to a living, breathing black person to learn about “the black experience”. How about a victim of police brutality or the family of someone killed by the police comes in to talk to these recruits and forces them to see the real, human impact…
America has always been, for these people, code for WHITE. They don’t have any actual loyalty to this or any country, except when the functions of its state deliberately prop up white supremacy.
Nothing like a daytime trip to a museum to unwind the impact of thousands of years of tribalism!

Well, let me give full credit to Robin DiAngelo, author of White Fragility which I am currently reading, who opened my mind to this simple and powerful fact. Most white people put their comfort before all else, and once you realize that you see the world as it is.
Admittedly, I do possess an incremental sympathy for the white people who perhaps have been mischaracterized as shitty and self-destructive trash.
Or, to put it differently, if you’re saying “people are getting hurt and killed every day” and my response is “yeah but my feelings”, perhaps that makes me a chunk of shit whose fee-fees OUGHT to be hurt a little more often.
Most white people don’t want to be uncomfortable. Or challenged. Or changed.
They either voted for it, or they didn’t vote to stop it, or they voted to stop it only what they would call “duress”.
