Exactly! So what specifically did Russia do? “They hacked!” Hacked what and did what? What did they do that influenced my vote? It’s a stretch to say an ‘Influence campaign’ is actually hacking. My definition of hacking in terms of an election would be that they actually went in and changed people’s votes. If

explicit statements! claims! some with “moderate confidence”! i guess that settles it

So what you are saying is the the OA with a Latino-Asian and Asian-Trans person, wasn’t diverse enough for you. I guess they didn’t tick enough of the required diversity boxes.

I mean, sure all that good stuff, but some celebrities died and Trump happened so we must flat out destroy the planet immediately! It’s the only logical conclusion when things are not perfect.

Shitty things happens every year. It’s not like the mass-murder of Syrians started in 2016. Plus we all know based on posting history what this is about.

I couldn’t agree more.

Yeah, a bunch of celebrities died. Ooo. Wow, such a horrible year. Let’s totally nominate this year as worst year in all of human history because celebrities over the age of 50 died.

I’d be happy to have Maddie come on and explain what collective nightmare she was referring too. I think many writers of the former Gawker sites are beyond the benefit of the doubt at this point. #makeGizmodogreatagain

It’s that, and famous people dying. Famous people die all the time. It’s only going to get worse in the next couple years because more and more people who got famous during the rise of extra media stream (like cable TV and music videos) get older.

I saw the headline and immediatly knew who the author was without looking. I totally agree I’m disgusted and tired of it as well. I come to read about science, technology, and scifi/fantasy (this type of thing has invaded io9 as well), not a political blog. I know gawker got shut down, it’s now gizmodo media, but

seriously. I’m exhausted by it. We get it. You’re “terrified”... your children are “terrified” (even though you’re the one terrifying them). Everything is bad. 2016 is awful. Nothing bad will happen anywhere in 2017. Everyone will live and everything will go just as every individual wants.

My apologies to Maddie if I’m wrong. I sit on pins and needles for her to jump into the comments and clarify what collective nightmare her and her Gawker friends are constantly speaking of.

It’s pretty clear what it’s about. Even as someone who was horrified personally about the election, at some point you have to move past letting it affect every little part of your life negatively, and start acting proactively in ways that do matter.

I do, the writer of this article doesnt seem to realize that...hence my comments on the article.

I do not require a safe zone, but nap with a blankie always sounds good. Of course now I also see all the libratrolls have come out to play as well.

Completely agree! The BS of the ‘collective nightmare’ is tiresome. Go put on a suit of safety pins if it makes you feel better, but do it on your Facebook page where people can more easily unfollow you. Gizmodo has changed dramatically for the worse...headlines like this a perfect example.

“sorry it didn’t suit your tastes.” sounds so condescending. Instead of objective reporting about a comet, the author has to slant the article with a small yet obvious political diatribe. All this article is missing is a safe zone and a blankie; not for the not-even-close-miss of a comet but for the non-stop

What collective nightmare? We still enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the world and in the history of mankind, and technology continues to advance.

Can we stop this ‘collective nightmare’ shit please, its fucking tiresome. Gadget blog...reporting on gadgets and science. I get that politics will come into the science/tech news often and it should (net neutrality as an example, or NASA funding) but starting every article about some imaginary collective nightmare

“ALIEN: COURSE CORRECTION”
