A quirky show like Young Rock, seems like it was mainly meant for a streaming network. Maybe Peacock or Paramount Plus.  Plus the filming schedule could be more flexible since Johnson is involved with all kinds of random stuff, anyway.

I remember seeing this the year it came out. I saw it at a second-run, “dollar” theater, several months after it apparently had premiered. I remember the Siskel & Ebert show had given it a positive review, especially in the aftermath of Mallrats.
