I can’t wait to see this!
I can’t wait to see this!
Except it’s not all the same. Becky doesn’t mean that for everyone who uses it. It’s usually meant to denote “basic white girl”. Trash rappers think they’re being cute and have added onto that their own extended meaning. In the context of Beyonce’s work she is most definitely not talking about that definition. I think…
If you’re going to insist that Becky is a reference to blowjobs I’m going to assume you get all you knowledge about Black slang from Urban Dictionary. People used the term Becky long before Plies was even a thought and it doesn’t mean a blow job to most people that use the word. I’m not trying to be rude, I’m just…
Please don’t tell the hive. I value my life, thank you very much.
Black people have been aware and talking about this kind of treatment from police for centuries. This crap started with slavery and it hasn’t ended. The country noticed during the civil rights movement because new technology (tv screens) brought the violence into everyone’s living room. The world could see the truth…
Tom Brady???! Boaty McBoatFace NO!!!
Fair enough! You can do it I can’t. I remember everything. It’s a freakish super power. I’m not over the way my ex used this tactic (the one I mentioned above) to try to gaslight me into letting him off the hook for bad stuff he did. After I took option B and broke up with him he complained to all of our friends that…
The album can stand on it’s own and it’s great music. The best Beyonce has ever made in my opinion BUT I think that watching the visual album is the way the work was meant to be experienced. Listening to the album afterwards is a delight and a reminder of that experience.
You can buy it on iTunes now too!
I thought the same thing. I also think he would have appreciated all the shady memes that were born from this as well.
“Satan/Becky” I’m cackling. DEAD! ^_^
“True forgiveness” where you magically stop being mad at what the other person did, and never bring it up again is a joke. I’ve never understood people who say things like “Forgive me or leave me, but make a decision one way or the other because I’m tired of talking about it.” That’s a cop out. It’s an excuse one…
I loved it. I’ve watched it 3 times and I’ve been listening to the album on repeat. It’s just magic and I’m in love with this work. I’ve been trying to pick favorite songs and craft thoughts about why I like it so much and I can’t. I’m still wrapping my mind around how much I love it. I don’t think I’ve every seen a…
YES. YES. YES.
Separation of Church and State is a motherfucking joke.
When I was in high school the fights between girls were always the most brutal. And if it wasn’t a physical fight it was terrible bullying that was also brutal. The myth that girls are supposed to be gentler, kinder, weaker than men hurts teenagers a lot. This is just a theory but I think some girls have so much anger…
I thought “What happened, Miss Simone?” was very well done.
Crying off and on all day. I'm devastated. We all lost something really special today.
Fair. I agree that show is really stellar.
He got his start on BET so this makes since to me. As far as I know most of his jokes are race related, about interracial relationships anyway. Besides, BET isn’t even owned by Black people and most Black people I know have beef with the channel and consider most of the programming to be trash (except of Black Girl…
