“Those who don’t remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

My liver and stomach are both irrevocably damaged for exactly that reason - and now, I have no other option for my chronic pain management other than Schedule II opioids. That’s right - I can’t even take NSAIDs or any medications with NSAIDs in them. I’m also unable to enjoy a beer or a whiskey ever again for this

NSAIDs in large quantities tend to cause ulcers in the digestive system. Acetaminophen in large quantities tends to cause liver problems. Why does it have to be so damn difficult to get a little codeine to help with back pain? I shouldn’t have to burn holes in my stomach and destroy my liver in the process.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I also have several herniated discs, severe rheumatoid arthritis in my neck and back, and nerve damage. I was also in the same place as you were, where surgery wouldn’t help/would potentially make things worse. I had some of the neck injuries from when I was 1 or 2

I’m similar to you. Pain levels are similar as you describe, tell my small kids I cant do stuff at times because of my back pain, etc. The one time I’ve brought it up to my doc, he basically laughed at me and handed me a booklet on stretching, I guess because I’m in my mid-30's and too young for back pain. I’m just

A-fucking-men... I herniated a disc two years ago and the pain was unbearable. It was 9 months before I finally progressed through all the required steps to get a discectomy. I would get this pain that felt like someone grabbed ahold of a bundle of nerves and was trying to pull them out of my leg through my spine...

The situation for chronic pain patients is quite understated here. Countless people have had their quality of life entirely destroyed. Opiates don’t help all conditions, and many have effective alternative treatments. That’s not always the case, and new policies don’t discriminate. Forcing countless people to suffer

This is absolutely my situation. I’ve had migraines all my life, and after years of treatment I’d settled into a management plan that included opioids in the 2010-12 timeframe. I was on that plan for 3-5 years (my health coverage was inconsistent throughout, so there were gaps). But when I was in treatment, I was much

A lot of the articles on this subject gloss over the fact that there are many people with debilitating pain that have a real need for pain relief to function, or just not be in agony all the time.

People who have a severe allergy to peanuts or shellfish sometimes carry
epinephrine, people with asthma carry inhalers.

I can attest to the kind of treatment that chronic pain sufferers receive. I’ve been to multiple doctors (through referrals) and diagnosed with a multitude of conditions that cause me pain: Stenosis, multiple grade 5 annular tears and a grade 4 tear to my L3-L4 (4), L4-L5 (5), and L5-S1 (5), muscle spasms, and bulging

This is a cosmetic/band-aid approach to the opiate problem, nothing else. I have chronic pain and some of the suggestions I have received over the years are to get full body massages, reflexology, cold laser therapy, reduce stress in your life ( hey dipshit, it’s the pain causing me stress), Cognitive Behavior

It’s a shame that adults are restricted from taking medication that helps them cope with disability.

It seems pretty crappy that Oregon would like to legislate which kinds of pain are “legitimate” and which ones aren’t, rather than leaving that up to the doctors who treat and know their patients. I understand there are some bad apples out there, but perhaps there are better ways of going about this.

Damn, pretty good impression of an eighteen year old who just had their first college class in feminist theory there. Congratulations!

Wow, there must have been a lot of piss in your cornflakes.

Counterpoint: go fuck yourself with a rusty razor.

1st Amendment violation. They can go fuck themselves.

Assuming this was allowable under normal circumstances, I’d think that policy lost any meaning when Trump claimed most federal workers support him. Is the FAA’s position that Trump can speak for their employees but the employees can’t speak for themselves?

Thag make cave great again! Send people from other side river back to other side river. Make rock pile to block other side river from rocks from other side river!
