+1. Most serious critics would agree that JDS is a better fighter, but even if you don't agree with that, to describe him that way suggests someone who doesn't watch the sport closely.

I can't disagree about the quality of UFC events being watered down recently. That's what happens when you put on 40 cards a year.

Marcus Davis, 17-1-2 as a pro boxer. He's the one who jumps out off the top of my head, but I know there were more. I don't know enough about boxing to comment on the quality of his opposition.

Who's denigrating him? I give Cain almost no chance of beating him. JDS truly seems to be one of those fighters who has no real holes in his game.

Cain getting KO'd by JDS was not a fluke. JDS is probably the hardest puncher in the UFC. Cain doesn't have the best chin (as another commenter already pointed out, he also got dropped more than once by Cheick Kongo, who is not an elite fighter). Also, from having watched essentially every UFC fight in the past 6-7…
