I’m not positive that’s correct - I think Deadspin has to decide to cross-post it. Ashley had an article about this a couple weeks ago that consisted of humorous texts from her to the editors of the other sites (Jez, Jalopnik, etc.) trying to get them to cross-post her stuff.

Oh, I see. Because your “just don’t read it” hot take was the apex of original thought, right?

But I’d like to see more of the sports stuff and less of the non-sports stuff. I’m a consumer of their specific Deadspin product. As a consumer, shouldn’t we voice our opinions about the content they’re putting out? I get that it’s just that - my opinion - and others may disagree. But instead of just throwing up my

I get that they’ve always done it to some extent, but it’s become exponentially worse since Gawker got shut down. Between that and the advertising, the crawl has become a nightmare. It’s cool that you’re fine with it as a consumer of their product. I’m unhappy with it as a consumer of their product and am just voicing

That’s a fair point and, to clarify, I have ZERO problem with posts that have a sports angle - your examples are all things I think I are perfectly appropriate for Deadspin. But the article we’re commenting on his literally nothing to do with sports. And, again, I know I’m going to get dogpiled for this by the

*sigh* I’m just going to copy and paste my response to someone else:

I watched that ant film 57 times and didn’t cry once. I tried to cancel my Deadspin subscription but they told me I didn’t have one. Bastards.

I get that - that’s sort of my point. I’d like them to stop cross-posting stuff from other blogs owned by their parent company that have nothing whatsoever to do with sports on their sports site. Between that and all the advertising that gets jammed in the crawl, it’s really become obnoxious.

This isn’t about the specific sports (as a fan of football and not much else I have the inverse of your problem, so I get what you’re saying). It’s all the cross-posting stuff that ISN’T about sports at all. Again, if I want content other then sports, I’ll go find that content.

But, I mean, it’s Deadspin. Their byline is “Sports news and commentary with a humorous slant.” Am I really being unreasonable to expect that? I get that your response is sort of the token knee-jerk reaction by some (that or “well, just don’t read it!”) but I LIKE Deadspin. They do great work. I’m a consumer of their
