I was just replaying Skyrim for the bajillionth time yesterday, and I was like “I’m gonna join the Stormcloaks!”, because y’know, stickin’ it to the man (Imperials) always seems fun. Then I read your comment and remembered Windhelm and how they treat other races.

Sorry if I spoiled anything. It was really a sucker punch. I mean, I had to reload quite a bit to force them to be friendly toward each other. I mean, coercing those uptight humans was so much trouble. And when I left them, they were all excited and curious about the ghouls and seemingly getting along. But... I guess

It reminds me of the Stormcloaks in Skyrim where I was all “hell yeah, cultural warriors fighting against Imperial opp—oh wait, you’re like super racist, then? Nah, fuck this shit.”

I understand what they want to do, I just don’t think it’s a cut and dry case as they treat it. Synths are not inherently evil. The tech can probably be used for good or at least learned from. Anything would be better than just “DESTROY THEM ALL ASAP!”

In FO3 there was a Karma system... so if you shot ‘innocents’ or stole from people, you would have terrible Karma. If you help people, you increased your Karma. This would allow you access to specific skills and led to a more unique character build.

I think that’s what strikes me about this. I was spoiled by Fallout 3, where the Brotherhood wasn’t THAT bad. And then we get introduced to this Brotherhood, who are the worst. They’ve always been kind of awful, but yeah, not quite as much in Fallout 3.

You can be both right and an asshole, and I think BoS embodies both those things perfectly. I understand where you’re coming from, though!

THIS WAS A GOOD COMEBACK FOR SOMEONE WHO IS SAD AND UPSET THAT THERE ARE GURLS IN YOUR WOLVERINE COMIC BOOK! I ALLPLAUD YOU FOR CARRYING ON IN THE FACE OF SUCH TRAGEDY!

They did. She’s a developed character that’s been around for a while. Narratively, it would make sense for X-23 to take on the mantle of Wolverine considering their shared history (and genetic makeup) just as it made sense for Dick Grayson to take on the mantle of Batman due to their shared history and training.

Maybe now that’ll change. Also, there aren’t a shitton of male comic book nerds either, we’re pretty much a minority all round. And yet, go to any convention, and you’ll quickly see that your 80/20 is complete nonsense. Or are they all fake geek girls?

Oh you should have said. Obviously your dating life is the definitive proof we needed about women’s reading habits...

I’ve always been a fan of the legacy concept, and it’s kinda nice to see Marvel start doing it a bit. It always felt weird to me that Marvel had so few successful legacies, save the occasional exemption like Miles and Human Torch.

You know that X-23 isn’t just a gender-swapped Logan, right? She’s a “clone,” but she’s been around for quite a while now and has her own personality and backstory. Just because she’s taking the Wolverine mantle, it doesn’t mean she’s just pallet-swapped.

You know that’s a lot easier said than done, right? Marvel creates new characters all the time, but finding traction isn’t easy, especially when everyone is comparing the new heroes to cultural icons who’ve been around for decades. Kamala Kahn and Miles Morales are pretty much the only two superheroes created in the

Boo fucking hoo. Your dick shriveling into a raisin or something because of it? Stop being a baby.

Oh please, that’s exactly the same argument used in videogames and scifi/fantasy. And guess what? It’s as bullshit and incorrect an argument here as it is there. Nerds have always been both genders.

Of the 70 announced titles in the Marvel relaunch, just 15 star women. That’s 55 comics you can read without being afraid of getting cooties.

On the other hand, maybe the “brand” gets these characters the time in the spotlight that they need to make it into the mainstream. So even if X-23 has to “give up” the mantle of Wolverine, now everyone knows who she is because everyone knows who Wolverine is, and they might be more interested in following her after

He'd be honored to have Laura take it.

I know man, then we can get back to having 90% of comic characters be white males, instead of the 75% we're at now! As a white male, I was beginning to feel under-represented.
