Youtube, is not exactly a free service that google puts up and loses money on. They earn revenue for videos that get views and are allowed to be part of their ad network. Google gets a nice slice of every ad clicked upon, a bit of the ad's price trickles to the producer of the video.

Someone is paying for all that bandwidth...
