I have friends who have been playing Rogue Galaxy seemingly constantly since it came out. I’m starting to wonder if I should play it... somehow I missed it when it first came out.

This depends on if you want to see them in the order they were released (at least in the US, where I am), or the story order. Personally, I tend to like seeing things in the order released, even when there are prequels etc. In that case for the anime its:

I think you should go with a picture of Tiki from the older games where she is younger. You can clearly see they picked a younger version of her for this game, not the “grown up” version that she is in Awakening.
