The way it was set up was stupid from the outset. If you really want to encourage EVs, then the best way to do it is to have one pool. Perhaps make the credit available to buyers of the first 1,000,000 EVs put on the road by all manufacturers.

Any wear would not be on the clutch, or the gears, or the synchro’s, but rather the shift linkages and the ‘dogs’ which connect the gears to the spinning shaft.
