A lot of awful shit has gone on this week, but being reminded that instead of a Bryan Fuller season 4 of Hannibal with Elliot Page as Clarice, we get something that’s not only made by Alex Kurtzman of all people, but also legally barred from referring to Hannibal really still ranks up there. When will his reign of

Yeah. It was a breath of fresh air for sure after the real failure of the DCEU. Pretty by the numbers stuff, but a talented cast/creative team and didn’t take itself too seriously, and it still didn’t feel like a Marvel movie which is obviously part of what they’ve been trying to avoid.

Where does Autism Speaks come into it? I can’t see it referenced at all, other than them interviewing the author at some point.

The burn was a ludicrous idea to begin with, but I'd love to know at what point they settled on that being the origin. If they just wanted a future where the federation has waned to a point its barely functioning, there are a plenty of non puzzle box ideas they could have gone with. They could have just badly lost a

Oh wow, I had no idea. It looked nothing like him and they made... zero use of his physicality? Maybe if he continues to be a character going forward as part of Saru’s story it will make some sense to cast someone so talented.

I basically hated Discovery before this season, didn’t even manage to finish season 2, season 3 actually made me think it had turned things around finally (making it fun at least, if not actually like Star Trek), but the last two eps were a real mess.

Two problems those shows share really are making the main character into the most important thing in the universe, and blaring music to manipulate emotions.

dw it’ll be just as shite cause the same people are making it

god I almost would have preferred her to be virussed by the sphere

Was there any resolution for Detmer’s PTSD/malfunctioning plot line earlier in the season?

Well they botched that. After two episodes (/three seasons) of Michael’s Mass Effect Renegade run they hand her the keys to Disco, because she’s she most special and important person in the galaxy? Give me a break. I guess Saru wants to spend some time not having to spend 7 hours a day getting fitted into make up and

wow what a brave hero.

better for them

Might watch Shazam again, that movie was fun.

Yeah I had a feeling that was the case.

It sucks she also has been shackled with the inevitable burden of being judged as the only female Doctor too. It’s hard enough taking on that role without being something a loud subset of people actively wanted her to fail at.

It’s definitely a mixed bag, with a lot of the contents of that bag being shit, but he’s written some good stuff right? Some of Torchwood was good, the first season of Broadchurch was good (or maybe it just had good acting who knows?), and he wrote 2 episodes of Life on Mars apparently, maybe they were good episodes?

Capaldi is possibly the best doctor they’ve ever had, but was let down by a hot mess of showrunning on Moffat’s part. Still there’s a lot to enjoy, and that era’s Master is up there with my favourite. It might be worth just watching the last season they did with him, which was in some ways a soft reboot that strips

Did anyone read Black Hammer? I’m really getting that kind of vibe in a good way.

Gladly! So obviously originally it had no real explanation beyond them being goons for the heroes to easily overcome, but as people added to the worldbuilding it became a parallel to how our own militaries tend to work: ie soldiers are often pretty badly equipped because military contracts are handed out to the lowest
