Exactly, in Godzilla 2014 the only fully fleshed out character was Cranston’s character. When he died the movie shifted focus to Generic Soldier #5473 rather than the kaiju fights.

Yeah, when i read that my reaction was, “wait a minute, why not?”

This review makes the movie sound like exactly what I wanted out of the first one. Less time spent on human characters I don’t care one bit about and more kaiju fights featuring ridiculously awesome looking monsters.
