It feels very low, especially with some of the definitely lower tier late 70's and early 80s work that is ranked above it.

I really hope they use her for the live action Moana, too.

Like you, I had been a longtime reader of the comics and also hated the show at the time and continue to this day. Nowadays I hate how this version of the team has became the idealized version to a whole generation of fans, ones who have greater reach than the original comics ever had. Central to this is that key

This is all true, but there’s a difference in an anthology show like Black Mirror that is an episodic anthology like The Twilight Zone, and some of the other shows that are being cited that are season long anthologies.

It’s so strange to me that this show has taken the name of the novel it adapted in the first season, the title coming from an element of that particular story, and turned it into the overall title of an anthology show that has nothing to do with the original story or other works by the original author.

I guess the number of checkouts depends on what your library’s subscription is.

“Give Me One Reason” was another big hit for her in 1995, fwiw. But the hypothetical person you are describing probably wouldn’t have remembered that either.

I think the investment is less in the Avatar universe than in the James Cameron one. For whatever shortfalls he might have from a scripting level, his worldbuilding, directing, and action choreography is just first rate. He brings the same abilities he honed on action movie classics like Terminator, Aliens, and T2 and

I’m very curious how they handle the time jumps between novels and the cast changes as a result.  I loved the first book but gave up pretty quickly while reading volume 2 when I realized pretty much everything I enjoyed was gone.

Gerwig is also the only director ever whose first three solo-directed films have been nominated for Best Picture.

I heard that rumor and was not planning to watch the show as a result.  I”m glad someone came to their senses.

This reminds me of James Caan’s Random Roles interview where he is very dismissive of Alien Nation.

The problem is that whenever there were too many good directors in a given year, and it was just a roll of the dice who gets in, and the margins between who gets the nom or not is minuscule, it’s usually the woman who gets left out.

From what I’ve read, they were becoming friends and hanging out, but then the article came out and they distanced themselves from each other in reaction.  Would they have continued working together, who knows?  But they definitely ended the social interactions that the article was reporting on.

Daredevil’s radar power is usually written such that he can basically “see” whatever is required by the plot.

I thought Thewlis did fine with the part, almost actually underplaying it when I envisioned Lupin from the books being a bit more empathetic.

I like Kang very much as well, but I have serious misgivings over how the MCU has introduced his character. They went all in on the variant Council of Kang angle, when they should’ve properly done the unstoppable future Conqueror angle first.

I gave them the 2-disc Anthology compilation, so it went beyond the big singles and threw in a lot of their less well-known singles and deep cuts.

“Peace Frog” is a favorite, and would’ve been closer to the top for me as well. But I note that this list is not their best, but rather their most essential songs. Can’t argue with the top 7 in that respect. (I’ve not heard “The End” on the radio that often, though)
