Zombies Ate My Neighbors or GTFO.

I think the most wow moment in Rise is the whole Tie Fighter vs Rey thing in the desert, including the tug of war with the escaping drop ship and Rey’s impassioned “Chewie!” when it’s done.   The trailer spoiled it but it’s really quite a good sequence.

I guess, though he does like the original Star Trek. I just find it strange for someone of his age who is so such a film buff to not have seen the OT when they were in theaters and the biggest thing around- that’s separate to me from any predilection or aversion to sci-fi, that’s just about keeping up with current

I haven’t gotten around to THX-1138, but the images I’ve seen have looked really good- classic 70's sci fi film vibe that I love so much.

I think it would’ve been pretty awesome to have Anakin’s fall be the climax of episode 2 (the prequel’s “I am your father” type shocker), so that we would’ve had two full episodes developing Anakin and an entire Episode 3 depicting the fallout.

Probably nostalgia, but I prefer the original.  Some nice songs withstanding, it does take a little too long to get to the factory, but Wilder’s performance and the 71 factory are much more entertaining and less sensational.

I find it really surprising that Tarantino had never watched even the OT.

Being a great producer is probably enough to be considered a great film maker, especially when the films he produces are so tied to his vision. His production credits lie beyond just two film series, but those two films series are singular enough to make that reputation.

it actually improves the latter quite a bit.

There really isn’t a single memorable or ‘WOW moment’ thing about the sequel trilogy.

Portman had done and would do better than her prequels work, but I don’t think it’s warranted to zero in on her or Jackson for their performance here. If anything, Portman carries most of the scenes she’s forced to do alone with Christensen and Lloyd (and holds her own reasonably well with Neeson), and any faults in

This is my least favorite, (even potentially hated) Star Wars movie. It drives me mad that there’s a widely held consensus that it’s not only the best prequel, but a potentially better film than RoTJ. Tom zeroes in on a lot of it. What he doesn’t mention is that the film basically exiles 2 of the 3 main characters of

Loeb is a hack, and responsible for some pretty horrible yet acclaimed comics. I have no idea how he keeps failing upwards. I liked the Netflix series well enough, but everything wrong with them (mostly the gratuitous grim-dark shit) felt like the type of stuff Loeb would add and the good stuff was clearly inspired by

For all the talk about how unlinear their romance was, it was surprisingly straightforward. From her first appearance with Tennant, it was implied she had experiences with several regenerations of the Doctor. To find out most of the romance was just with Smith’s version (she was completely unaware of Capaldi’s

I guess the Doctor and Rose, and later River Song, would fit here too.

The first time I sat down to watch Just Like Heaven, I somehow began when Mark Ruffalo first appeared. I guess I thought my wife had just turned on the movie rather than had been watching it for 15 minutes. The film was so engrossing, like a mystery as Ruffalo’s character tried to figure out what was going on with

I think everyone gets to that point. If you ever get the itch to revisit, I think you’ll find more selective reading, preferably from a free resource (Hoopla via your local library might work) will be the way to go.

I haven’t collected anything serialized in 15 or so years. The twin knock out punch of Avengers Disassembled and Infinite Crisis took me out. I just keep an eye out for acclaimed runs and binge them when they are done.  It’s been much more fun, honestly.

Cool story.  It must be so weird at times for an artist to see who they reach.  Because he just records his music and sends it out into the ether, not really knowing who is receiving it.

I haven’t read many of these (I tend to steer clear, honestly), but I did have the misfortune of reading Original Sin while going through Aaron’s Thor run a few months ago and it was abysmal.
