I haven't read it in a couple years, but I remember it being a lot more severe than a spanking, and him being completely unrepentant about it. Maybe I'm misremembering?

Edit: I think I stand by my original comment. I couldn't find the whole scene, but this does it:

I haven't read many romance novels, but a former Jezebel commenter wrote An Experienced Mistress and I picked it up on a whim and ended up really liking it! It's well-written, the characters are interesting, and the romance is steamy.

Fair warning, Outlander has some pretty graphic sexual violence, and not in a fun over-the-top-bodice-ripper kind of way. [SPOILER] As in the hero beats the everloving shit out of the heroine and mentions how much he enjoys it, and the villain is a sexual predator who rapes the hero.

I did not enjoy that book.

That's definitely true, but I hate seeing it get thrown around in liberal circles as if it's an argument against vegetarianism/veganism. Worldwide, poor people eat the least meat and are the most affected by the negative consequences of meat production (environmental degradation, global warming, dangerous

I'm a white person who lived in South Africa, and the minor shit you get for being white in a majority-black country is simply not comparable to the centuries of systemic oppression faced by black South Africans. It's honestly shocking to me that you could grow up in SA and not see this.

I'm 5'11". Guess how many shorter men have asked me out? Zero. Guess how many shorter men have told that I'm to tall to be dateable? Many. But I'm still not whining about how much haaaaaaarder it is for me, because I realize that dating is hard for pretty much *everyone*.

As a woman who has sat alone in many a bar, this is laughably untrue.

I was thinking more like one of these:

That was my thought as well. The flight attendant was apparently following federal regulations, which are her job to enforce. I don't know what the penalties would have been for her if she'd made an exception, but I imagine there's a chance she could have gotten into big trouble. What if she let them go, and the

Prime Suspect had a pretty great complex female lead.

Well, who doesn't long for the good ol' days when you could have a nice wholesome old-fashioned raping without people getting all uppity about it?

I was just reading about a book by some "famous" MRA that featured a naked woman's butt on the cover. The author's justification was literally that attractive women oppress men by being attractive.

MRAs already are cartoonish representations of themselves.

Whoops, redacted.

Teenagers and mothers can be (and often are) poor workers.

Maybe you can only get compassionate release if you're in prison for certain (i.e. nonviolent) crimes?

I liked Cinder!

In revenge, let's have a thread of our favorite YA books. I'll start:

I mean, making fun of people's eating choices is shitty.

But as a certified skinny person, if I post a picture of myself ostentatiously eating a cheeseburger in a bikini, I think I might deserve at least a little snark.

Pretty sure it's daikon. My favorite banh mi shop just uses carrot, though.

Bahn mi chay. Head-cheese free and DELICIOUS.
