This is one of the most frustrating parts. Journalists are NOT PR practitioners, or vice versa. There's a lot of strategy involved in PR that is just simply not a part of journalism. That's not to say they can't do it, or that they necessarily do a bad job, but the idea that you can just seamlessly go between the two

Same here. I live in a town that's saturated with PR professionals - we have programs at the diploma, bachelors and masters levels. It's nearly impossible to lock down any of the positions, and if you're lucky, you'll get a 1 year term.

No kidding. Women in PR are all painted as A-Type perfectionists, and there's a huge rivalry between women. Men get a lot more chances to make mistakes.

I have a degree in PR, and am early on in my career. In my graduating class there were 56 women and 4 men. The men have had a decidedly easier time getting started than the women. They get the choice internships, and the choice jobs post-graduation.

So, my cat has a bit of a hunting habit. When I was living in my old apartment we had a ground-floor window she could come in and out, which led straight into the woods. One night I opened the window and she hopped inside, and then immediately plunked a live mouse in the middle of my living room floor. The mouse took

Can Tina Fey reprise her SNL character for just one more gig, and read this verbatim?

Stop trying to justify your hatred with the Bible. Jesus (the guy you're supposed to follow) was not anti-everybody-who-isn't-white-and-Christian. Everything the religious right is doing is directly in opposition to the teachings of Christ, and it's offensive to people like me who are actually Christian - not just

No kidding. There's only ever been one point in my life when I was getting compliments on my body, and at the same time, I also getting the "you're too skinny" comments as well. It's all subjective.

It bothers me when people can't tell that they're overcompensating. It's a nice thought, "I want to see people who represent a larger segment of the population," but is there really no place between that genuine concern and, "OMYGOD THAT CHICK IS A FUCKING SKELETON!"?

I really don't get the nail art fad. I can't even paint my own nails a solid colour without it looking like it was done by a toddler, but even if I could, I can't imagine I'd do any of the things that are in style right now. I want people to be paying attention to me, not my nails.

Authorities report that they're looking for the the mother's partner, and are working with the police in the country where they suspect he's hiding.

As much as a despise the whole Kim/Kanye thing, I have to actually respect his concern here. Less the electrocution, but more the completely fair concern about the drones invading their private space. The paparazzi have always been completely disgusting, but this just gives them a level of power that no one should

THE TROLL IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE!

The video is worth watching if you have access to it. Her intonation and pace is fascinating.

Any other kids in the neighbourhood whose parents might be able to look after yours?

That's an awful lot of drunkenness to accomplish in 3 1/2 hours.

It's normally something you would bring up around performance review time. If you've been somewhere a year or longer and have been building your responsibilities over time, it's not unreasonable to sit down after a positive review and make your case for a raise.
