This is the other thing: complacency! Having spent my teen years in a country where abortion was illegal until very recently (Ireland) & having memories of ‘shopping trips’ to England I was acutely aware of what the US would become when Roe was overturned.

I also try to explain to youngs that local elections are SOOO fucking important becos once SCOTUS overturned Roe, that opened the flood gates for the Republican led state legislatures to go nuts.
