Shelter Cat Update!

I don’t necessarily think that it would have either, but right now we have a narrative that has the police showing up in riot gear for protests that only turn violent when the police instigate it and another that was basically a bunch of people looking for trouble and there’s no discussion about the blatant difference

I think they stopped because they couldn’t believe that the cops had the temerity to shoot at them.

I guess we will see how many of those “Back The Blue” phonies really believe in that garbage now huh?

My beef here is that Kinja user are publicly threatening people and the Kinja editors are not taking action.

There are two sides to the grey question.

Damn the angry racists in the grays are going crazy.

even with the possibility of being outed anyway, i don’t blame people for being worried, frustrated, afraid, in the wake of his decision (and people will express those feelings in all kinds of ways).

What’s that thing that everybody says when an officer executes a Black person over a traffic violation? “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes”? I’m sure they’re saying that about Ashli, right? Especially since she ignored instructions from a police officer?

What, they’re not saying that?  Interesting.  (/s)

Vodka-soaked racists gets on Rusky state TV to slur a cop who defended the US Capitol during the 1/6 riots:

For all the morons that are bashing this man for revealing his identity did you ever consider that people had informed him that conservative news outlets were going to out his identity and that he needed to get out in front of that before he was put even more on the defensive? I guess we will see how many of those

A year before that, a sheriff’s deputy claimed an McDonald’s employee had taken a bite out of his McChicken sandwich, when it really was himself:

There’s no controversy because there’s been no reduced policing. Defund the police was a Twitter hashtag, not an actual strategy that had been implemented yet. An increase of criminal statistics was used by dishonest people to make an argument against mythical changes.  Because in this country, being right online is

As i was reading I was thinking about the exceptions - before I got to the charts - like here in MD. We have a GOP governor but a Dem state house. Conversely, states like Michigan, NC and Kentucky are opposite us with Dem governors and GOP-led state houses - which probably accounts for the “9 out of 10" type

The thing is, they’re also killing children, who CAN’T be vaccinated. And they’re responsible for the formation of the Delta strain.

The first episode is based on an incident from last year where a couple of NYPD officers faked being poisoned by Shake Shack, potentially putting the store and its employees in danger, in an effort to perpetuate a narrative that cops were under attack and were, you know, the real victims in society.

This episode pair is a great example of just how tough this season of B99 has it in terms of covering everything it wants to. And how it mostly manages to get there, in fact.

Oh, I would agree. There’s plenty of obvious and subtle criticism throughout, and I think those generally worked better than the ‘serious’ episodes because they didn’t feel like they were actively fighting against the sitcom’s character to do it (the same thing could be said for Jake and Rosa going to jail... you knew

So your problem with the show is that even though they’ve pushed things in the right direction, they haven’t managed to single-handedly effect systemic change with their goofy workplace sitcom?

I would argue there’s more criticism of the NYPD in there than just that. There’s Holt’s storylines, the ‘John Kelly’ subplot, plus that fact that - as others have pointed out - almost every copy outside of the 99 are portrayed as screw-ups, bigots, or hacks. The show was actually good at directing criticism towards
