in his 35 years on the force no one else has described him as racist.

The rot goes deeper. The Supreme Court understandably gets the most press, but it’s the same story down through the lower courts. Republicans halted the confirmation of all judges toward the end of the Obama administration and then spent the next four years quietly packing the lower courts with young, unqualified

I think one of the scariest aspects of the current court is that Roberts intensely feels the eyes of history on him and is trying to avoid having some big-name decision hung on his legacy, but still wants to get somewhere deeply disturbing eventually.

The picks of Kavanaugh, ACB, and (somewhat) Gorsuch will probably be reviewed as the most questionable in 60 years. Yes, I remember Bork, Thomas, & Mier. The Senate had common sense back then to not push Bork, Thomas was nothing but an Alito hack, and Miers disappeared. These three will shape the Court for decades and

It was reported on fairly extensively at the time that the FBI was forbidden from directly talking to Ford about the allegations, that was a direct order. I’m sure they were told to not investigate it in other ways, too, but it was no secret the FBI never investigated Ford’s claims -- they were told directly not to as

What. happened. to. Kavanaugh’s. debt?

I still expect something else to come out about Kavanaugh. A man like that, who was (allegedly...) sexually violently in high school already and came to power early in life? And he is supposed to (allegedly...) just have stopped? Unlikely (allegedly...).

If the FBI missed shit on Kavanaugh, it’s because someone told them to.

Now playing

Me too. It was nauseating.   At least we got this.

He likely completed disclosure forms as part of the nomination process, so he could be impeached for failing to disclose pertinent financial dealings.

I’ve been interviewed twice by the FBI (that I can recall) about an Army colleague who was in need of a higher-level security clearance and another about a former tenant who was going into some kind of government-related software job.

It seems that when doing background checks, the government really wants to talk to someone who lived with you.

Totally agreed on his behavior at the hearing. He could have even continued to deny the allegation calmly but he was so angry at the thought of being denied what he thought he was entitled to that he lashed out like a petulant child.

I agree that it was credible and that it wasn’t likely to sink the nomination on its own, given that it was high school behavior. What should have sunk the nomination was his reaction to it, which was that she was lying and he didn’t drink too much and it was a conspiracy against him and yelling and crying and saying

I watched the hearing, I remember being absolutely shocked by his conduct. He was completely unhinged and came off guilty as fuck.

His behavior should have disqualified him alone, but you gotta get those sweet conservative SC votes I guess.

I was contact once by the FBI. I was surprised, and even more surprised to hear they wanted to interview me about a former roommate I’d had about 3 years earlier. I hadn’t had contact with him in any of that time, either. But I guess I was on some form somewhere as having lived with him and so here I was in a Peet’s

The poetic (hopefully) justice that Merrick Garland is now ultimately in charge of investigating him.

It makes me wonder about the whole process - Dr. Ford’s allegation, while obviously credible, wasn’t enough to sink Kavanaugh’s nomination on its own so I think the Republicans only agreed to have her testify in order to distract people from questioning the debt repayment.

So, real question... can he be impeached for the work OTHERS did to cover for him to get him confirmed? I mean, it was clear that the GOP would have confirmed a three day old tuna sandwich as long as it could vote for a pro-business, anti-labor, pro-patriarchy, anti-equality party line, and it was clear even at the

I’ve been listening to “The Daily” podcast, and found several episodes covering his nomination and the hearing.
