You don’t see the irony in saying that I wasn’t taking into consideration real world circumstances, then you jumped into something that completely ignores the reality of how these crimes are handled?

Have you ever been raped? Have you ever gone to the police as a rape victim? Gone through a trial and had to sit on a witness stand and try to act like the perfect victim while a defense attorney tries to assassinate your character and sanity? If not, then maybe you really shouldn’t be dispensing advice to rape

These are matters that should be handled by police departments, bottom line.

Not much is fair to rape victims, and the justice system certainly isn’t. Having parallel structures in place for dealing with this kind of thing makes sense, especially when one structure can move faster and more effectively to protect the victim when a slower and less efficient structure is more concerned with a

There’s often physical evidence in those cases too (rape kits, assuming they get tested), just not conclusive physical evidence.

Telling them to do anything they don’t want to do is a dick move. When you’ve been sexually victimized, the last thing you need is someone else trampling on your agency. It’s not your place to decide how they should process and react

Would there be clear cut evidence? What if it happened at an after work happy hour and both parties had been drinking? Or it happened in the copy room and no one else was there to see it. You say he decked you, he says you tripped and hit your face on the way down.

There’s sort of an inherent contradiction there-you can’t keep the people apart without interfering with their education. Also, if you have good evidence that someone is a serial rapist, do you really want to keep letting them rape your campus without consequence?

OK, so let’s say we do. Do you know how long it takes for a rape case to go to trial? Do you know how many actually even make it to a courtroom rather than getting dismissed for lack of evidence/police douche-baggery? Do you know what the conviction rates are?

You know you can report to both the police and a school’s Title IX officer, right? it’s not either/or

If your first step is telling victims what to do, you’re already going down the wrong path.

So... the alternative is to turn a blind eye to rapists in your midst?

That’s because you’re stupid

And the STL cops managed to take this kid who was firing back at them...

Cops are like lions-running away from them illicits some primal, predatory reaction that causes them to chase you and see you as prey. Not really the best way to get yourself out of the situation. Like holding up a red stop sign to a charging bull

Isn’t it standard to mention the party affiliation of reps in situations like these?

Watkins got suspicious when the Ryans rolled up in their “mobile foot imaging lab”

The ultimate goal of that movement is to drive the nation into a wasteland of sexual anarchy that consumes all moral values

The thing that stood out to me was when the driver was talking about, or rather dancing around, that he had been the one keeping the girl on the scene until the responders started showing up.

Have you seen the body cam from the officer who talked to the driver? The driver, at least to me, gave off a distinct “I was just in an accident, and now I’m going through the motions of what you do when you’ve been in accident” kinda vibe.
