"Like, we toured with The Head And The Heart, and even they said they were inspired by our band. But, if you’re influenced by Dr. Dog, I don’t know what that even means. I mean, why be influenced by Dr. Dog? Why not just be influenced by The Beatles?"—from AV club interview.

it's funny because it's true…but no one has pointed it out because we are happy simply to have the hook to hang our hats on.

Biggles—I keep getting into music that I think is an unearthing of something from the 60s or 80s (Group Inerane and Noibe's The Cclose Calll, respectively) and turns out to be brand new…I would truly love to have that flipped for me the way your friend has!

A cool chick in high school with a hip older brother loaned me her Warm Jets LP when she saw I was getting into Heads/ Byrne, and it completely blew my mind. Many many years later a young guy I worked with decided he wanted to listen to cooler music than the shit he liked, and I gave him a copy of Jets among other

Oh, and—I remember walking down West 4th St in the Village listening to Loveless for the first time on my Walkman, slapping it to rejuvenate the dying batteries. When that didn't work I popped in somewhere for new batteries, got them in, and went—oh, I guess that's how it's suppposed to sound.

I saw the Pixies behind Doolittle when I was 16 and they sucked. The band before them was i think the Zulus or something, and it was dismaying to realize the perfectly fine set they had put out was gonna be the highlight of the evening.
Despite being a huge Pavement fan, I never bothered to see them live bc I heard

I loved Nikki and Paulo. It was like an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, with the spider and all. No reason a long show can't enrich the palate with a fun little detour like that, although I guess I have the fact that they were loathed to thank for the ep I liked.

It would be wonderful if those two idiots killed each other.

Er, now that I've watched a little further, I should say it's the dancing to the guitar riff, not the smoking, that made me happy…

Oh my God my day already needed making and that kid in the video totally did it.

"It sounds to me like you probably just don't care for much music released after 1997. And for the record, I was following all of those bands at the time, dismissed their later output much as you seem to have."
Actually, what I was doing was finding things after 1997 that I loved, and listening to those instead of

Not meant snidely, just curious—I'm guessing you have followed his solo career with a similar level of satisfaction?

Oh, believe me, I gave them a shot, esp with Terror Twilight. Oh how I tried to stare into that warm puddle and find some musical depth. Fucking Carrot Rope. Christ.

I've always thought "New Adventures" was their best since Green (and their last good one of any kind). But the main thing it seemed to me at the time was a reflection of Wowee Zowee's revitalizing influence, which I think
also spread to Blur and likewise jumpstarted their creative energies to squeeze one last great
