I just looked it up, since I had the same “that’s not possible!” reaction, and apparently there’s a weird loophole where if you’re an Episcopalian/Anglican priest, you can covert to Catholicism and become a Catholic priest, even if you’re married.

I’m very curious about the chances of this getting blocked by regulators. Disney is clearly very confident, considering the “breakup fee”, but it’s hard to believe this won’t fall afoul of anti-trust laws given how dominant Disney already is in the film industry.

Yeah, I’m really hoping they keep the X-Men films separate from the MCU. I love the MCU but they’re all about consistency (you go to an MCU film and you know what you’re getting), whereas the strength of the X-Men films has been standalones which step outside the box (see: Deadpool, Logan). No one wins by bringing

Why are these accusations always so weak? That’s not even similar enough to merit a “huh. what a weird coincidence.

That’s a good point - it wouldn’t surprise me to find this was an outtake from back when Carrie and Lowell was going to be ‘Oregon’, before he decided to keep the record more focused on his personal experiences.

It’s really discouraging to me to see all the backlash about Taylor Swift. So many people saying that she’s too white, too rich, not feminist enough, etc, to be a part of this. But you don’t have to be a perfect victim to deserve justice. You don’t have to be selfless to stand up for yourself.

Complain about Millennials all you want, just please get the timeline right! It drives me crazy to read articles that start out by defining Millennial as “born 1980-1995" or whatever, and then the article goes on and on about smartphones and social media and twitter. Most people in that age group were adults when all

They can’t go the “quick scene that can be edited out” route either - can you imagine the PR stink the minute the US press found out? It’s one thing to make innocuous edits for the Chinese market (add a small scene set in China, edit out nudity or violence, etc) but it would definitely make headlines if they censored

That was so gross.

As much as I LOVE the Great British Bake-Off, there’s something that feels wrong about recommending such a British show for such an American holiday.

I’m genuinely confused how this is supposed to work. People can give “Kudos” instead of a tip, and it’s like a cryptocurrency in that it doesn’t really correspond to anything in the real world but still (hopefully) has value? Even though the employee can’t actually use it for anything? Or is it better to think of it

People find the Scouring of the Shire sad? I always liked it for the pure wish fulfillment - we get to see how much cooler our heroes have become, as they return home and face a foe that’s laughably minor to them now.

The Royal Assassin series is the obvious way to go if you’re looking for the “next GOT” - I’m disappointed no one has jumped on it yet.

Yeah to me this really looks like the designer decided for practical reasons that it looked nicer sans hair (and it does), and didn’t stop to consider the political implications. Lupita’s right to be mad about it but the assumption that it was an intentional “censoring” is a bit much. If they really found it

“One feminist sound bite that has emerged loud and clear over the past few years is that genre stories need more “strong female characters.””

I subscribe to the philosophy that if you have an old phone, and it’s working pretty well, you should stop upgrading the OS. You’re much more likely to end up ruining your phone than improving it.

I got curious and looked up the plot summary for that one - all the plot revolves around three dudes, and the main character’s only role is that she sleeps with all three of them...

I played Morrowind a bit like all the folks above who followed the traffic laws in GTA. I didn’t want to learn spells or fight things, I just wanted to wander around and explore. My favorite memory of the game is the time I spent two hours walking all the way from the bottom left corner of the map to the top right

Yeah, he seems to have never considered that he could just... not make any more movies with Weinstein.

Well, yes, you could make the story about a native american girl on a reservation and a native american boy living in a big city, and it could capture the original’s themes fairly well. I’d like to see it! But I’ll eat my socks if that actually happens.
