Nivas rust like 1980s cars do. Only buy one if you can get the chassis checked for rust. You don’t want to import one, and immediately have to do welding on the chassis or floors.
Aside from that, i had one friend who had one. It just kept breaking down. Not saying the one you wanna buy will be as crappy, but

Here in Germany I see them used as snow plows mostly. Like Jimnies. Unlike Jimnies, they are typically not used as commuters. Too crude, too utilitarian and I guess the fuel consumption is not helpful either.

Far less safe than a Jimmy, obviously, as the Lada as a design is 4 decades older.

I moved my whole house with the top down on my used 97 Jaguar XK. I just threw a mattress over the back and stacked things up like the Beverly Hillbillies. I drove that car up Pikes Peak, through the desert, on the beach, I even squeezed in two 6 foot tall fools into the backseat to go to the casino a few times.

My man, stroke yourself off all you want about owning a truck, but don't get mad when people laugh at you about jerkin it in public.

Modern full size trucks get “decent fuel economy” if you’re coming from a 1994 F-350 460 V8. 20 MPG combined is not “decent” - it’s bad. Pretty much every car these days has a city fuel economy that at least matches the best diesel pickup highway fuel economy.

The problem with own a truck you rarely ever use is the

Worst in class sedan still stops shorter than best in class pickup.

Or just put a trailer hitch on your car for $130 and rent a trailer for $20/DAY.

22mpg does NOT impress me when that Camry gets an easy 40 these days (with me driving it as only rental cars get driven).

Bob in Accounting is a poseur who can’t satisfy his wife and has a Grindr account.

I was actually going to buy one when I bought a house, but I would be paying insurance for it to sit 360 days a year. For the savings in gas and insurance, I can rent a truck for $20 an hour/day for the few times a year I actually need one.

22 mpg should not be “good” by anyone’s metric. It’s not 1984 anymore. The Camry might have only stopped 9 feet sooner, but gets 52 mpg.

Lighten up, Francis

They can do everything a car can do”...except handle, brake well and manouver well and conserve resources.

Great gas mileage compared to what? Just about any mid sized SUV gets better gas mileage, has more cargo space, and is generally a lot cheaper. 95 percent of the car owning population will never need to haul anything or tow anything either, or if so, its so infrequent that you could easily rent a truck to do that job

The automatic doors opening for flying chunks of debris was a nice touch

Pretty sure he just won Floridaman Bingo.

I’ll never understand folks who modify a vehicle, then expect it to increase the vehicle’s value. It’s a 18 year old vehicle. I’m confident there are few people in San Francisco, California, looking for a modified, 18-year-old, gas-guzzling vehicle, let alone at this price point.
