Yeah, pinning Yemen on Obama is a massive stretch - we sold them the guns, but the Saudis and Emiratis bear the overwhelming share of the responsibility.

And, again, this isn’t something that can be proven or disproven.

that the US and the USSR were largely no better or worse than each other

Alright, you’re pathetic (not that this is “to your face,” keyboard warrior).

It’s also not that simple. The US supplied a huge amount of the weapons and equipment the Soviets used to win the war, we supplied a huge amount of the food they needed to keep their soldiers alive, and the biggest point: had Stalin not been such a colossal fuckup in underestimating Hitler, he could have joined with

It’s incredibly pathetic that some people on the left have a pathological need to defend any regime that self-identified as leftist. The USSR, particularly before 1957, was a fucking nightmare.

I did all of my graduate work in Russia, the majority of which was spent in a city built as a gulag in 1935. I’ve interviewed dozens of former prisoners and their families. I grew up around the Russian expat community in the US, speak Russian, and have spent a lot of time there.

The war was basically over by December 1941? Over a year before the Soviets stopped getting their teeth kicked in because Stalin purged and executed almost his entire general staff between 1937 and 1938?

The lack of understanding regarding what Socialism is on both sides is as astounding.

you should say something nice about the USSR for saving your ass from Hitler.

We really shouldn’t bump Baracka’s bullshit up the thread by responding to it. Let him shout into the void.

Police are basically trained to round any lack of compliance up to a capital offense.

Maybe, though I have serious doubts about getting single-payer past the Senate and courts in the first place. Even if we pack the courts, I don’t see the SCOTUS signing off on a complete nationalization of the healthcare industry.

That article is arguing against half-measure public options from the US (lines like “costs would remain inadequately controlled, and coverage would remain sub-universal” give it away - that’s distinctly untrue here or anywhere else with a public option-based universal system).

Once again, public options do quite well in Europe, where they’re far more common as a universal care system than single-payer.

The only reason anyone supports Tulsi is because she was a Bernie supporter. Once she stormed out in 2016, she instantly became thoughtful and courageous presidential material in the eyes of some truly awful internet types.

Warren is my #1 choice and I have never been a Bernie supporter. Anecdotally, my friends who work in government (who were Clinton supporters all) generally have her in their top 3.

Corbyn has pissed off A LOT of people when it comes to Brexit and he doesn’t want a Second Referendum

I saw a ~1979ish Toyota Tercel hatchback in immaculate condition with an off-center red stripe a couple days ago. Glorious.

The Panhandle would indeed be a stupid place for Dems to waste time - it’s the regional equivalent of having a rally in Wyoming.
