Uber and Lyft have always wanted people to drive as much as possible - the part-time gig thing is a ruse to prevent them from being subject to regulation and from needing to provide benefits for their full-time workers.

I wouldn’t defend much about the old cabs, apart from the fact that they could earn a decent living. It’s certainly possible to be harshly critical of the predatory tech companies and the ossified businesses they try to disrupt.

This is the state in which several state reps were recalled after voting for mild restrictions after the Aurora theater shooting. There’s even a movement in the NE part to form its own state, mostly to avoid gun restrictions and environmental regulation of oil and gas.

Great point. Israel and Saudi Arabia have never done anything awful that should give Americans pause.

Maybe prove that, or demonstrate probable cause

The guy literally hosted a show on RT before his arrest. Being an actual Russian propaganda host doesn’t really add to your journalistic credibility.

US treason law requires you to owe allegiance to the US to commit treason. About the only non-citizens who owe allegiance are in the military or those working in very specific government roles. Needless to say, that doesn’t apply to Assange.

He would be charged as a spy.

Over a longer period (since 2006) it has been close to 50%, but quite consistent since 2013, and renewables share has continued to increase since then. It’s a more complicated picture than “renewables make your electricity more expensive.” For instance, Texas generated 30% renewable electricity last year at pretty low

How exactly will they charge an Australian citizen with treason against the US?

I’ve written on algae-derived fuel before, and the consensus seems to be that photobioreactors are actually quite expensive, need to be located next to a constant CO2 source, and require a large amount of their own infrastructure.

Not quite - Germany is a net exporter of electricity. The talking point of importing electricity from France is a misreading of energy buying agreements which route power through German lines to 3rd market countries like Belgium.

I’ve reported a number of his posts - he’s usually in the greys so I suspect he mostly just got ignored.

The selective publishing and lack of proper redaction is the big thing people miss.

The case was suspended, not dropped. The Swedish prosecutor could not get Ecuador to cooperate, so she suspended it. The SoL isn’t up, and Sweden is likely to pursue the case again.

Or how about some more lovely cognitive dissonance from our lovely, somehow ungreyed, troll:

People should really stop starring a certain reply here - the Assange defenders appear not to notice that they’re upvoting a total scumbag

The arrest was livestreamed over YouTube on Russian news channel propaganda firehose RT.

The Ecuadorians can invite UK law enforcement onto the property, which is what they did. Assange faces criminal charges in the UK, so it’s not US jurisdiction being exercised. His citizenship is irrelevant as far as jurisdiction is concerned - you’re under the legal jurisdiction of whatever country you’re in.
