Hah, honestly, I was ready to disagree with you at first, and reading through the rest of your post swayed me the other way.

Which area of Canada? Some of the eastern provinces have Bell Aliant Fibre Optic that remains uncapped and blindingly fast.
I see what you're saying. After cutting out all the misplaced aggression I get:
My friend, I have a confession; I was kind of leading you there.
Right? I was so shocked the article was not about this.
Not as cool as it is to criticize everything, it seems.
Wait, did I miss that this and the iOS/Android version of V were released on 3DS? After research I was not able to find comment.
Maybe there was an art critic found frozen there a thousand years after the War of the Magi.
Not knockin' the work, but I think it still looks weird. This is the one screenshot posted above that bugged me a little but without seeing the game in motion it's tough to commit to an opinion.
Take a moment to imagine a world where FFVI was never released in the first place. Imagine Final Fantasy has not yet been a thing at all. Now imagine Square Enix was just starting out, releasing these games for the first time, in their original state (but on PC or modern consoles).
To be perfectly honest, I like it too. High definition graphics allow for subtler and more natural shading techniques that make the sprites more aesthetically pleasing to look at. I get nostalgic as much as the next guy, but I just can't agree here.
Wait what?
I was thinking the same... Clear space can look elegant in some cases, like these broad margins on kotaku.com, when I'm not looking directly at it. I think the best way to describe what is happening here is that my attention is being drawn TO the empty areas of the UI, not away from it.
I was bored enough to do some facebook voyeurism here (because I think it's both terrifying and fascinating). I find it interesting that the facebook for his sister says she married his father in 2006. :p
It does say "objectively" before the score. I'm pretty sure that averts this issue.
The steamworks servers seem to be struggling too. I was trying to do Borderlands 2's Circle of Slaughter with a friend only to DC constantly in the last couple waves. We ended up giving up for now.
Both my family and Christ are pretty far away right now. Possible differences in religious beliefs aside, not everyone is so lucky to spend the holidays with their family.
