The reaction to Miley's performance has little to do with her outfit. It has everything to do with the fact that she can't dance, and she can't sing, and last night made her look as if she thought being "wacky" and "edgy" were enough to compensate for the lack of talent.

And people were criticising Britney's performance too. I don't even care about what Miley wore - though the plastic granny panties were incredibly unflattering. Her performance was just embarassing - trying way too hard to show how cool and edgy she is.

Yes, but Britney was awesome; Miley was a disaster. However, this shit is entertaining as fuck, MTV knew what they were doing...

As always, my favorite thing about these shows is the inevitable onslaught of Tumblr posts with amazing photoshop jobs/comparisons/tweets/gifs. I am going to share them with you now, starting with the best (the rest are in the replies because I don't want to make y'all scroll forever down the comments):

It was a better show than slamming one's forehead into a brick wall, but not by much.

Everyone stand back. A MAN HAS SPOKEN.

If you sense that you could start unconsciously flirting

You can only discourage a guy who is overt. Most guys leave some kind of plausible deniability. If you firmly tell them to stop hitting on you, they say they never were and you should be so lucky. :/

Ouch. Some of those "harmonies" were painfully off in an injured cat sort of way. That guy has a great voice, though!

Watching these two skinny bland people sing their boring song with their eyes closed because they feel the music so deeply or whatever makes me recoil in disgust like Hugh Grant in About A Boy.

Fair enough! I've thought that as well. Not sure how to get around that one, unfortunately. However, I'm expected, as a woman, to exercise tons of self control with my "incendiary" opinions and girly behaviors, so I'm not sure why it's OK that we have to default to the "oh well, men will be men!" argument. I LOVE sex,

I love seeing misogynists confronted with the falseness of their convictions - they always double down instead of considering the actual facts. Shows you how little their opinions mean.

Because then they'd have to pay for those goddurn womenz poppin' out dem babies and their durn maternuty leaves!! Durn femails and their stinky hoo-has and their constant need to pop out babies every 5 minutes...

I think it's weird that you feel entitled to a "thank you" from a woman who took maternity leave. You're not really doing her a personal favor as much as you're doing the company a favor. Sure, a woman taking maternity leave probably leaves a good portion of work that needs to be done, but it's up to the company to

At my most recent internship I uncovered a dirty little secret - the male interns were getting paid, and the female interns were not! I was enraged, but I felt powerless to speak up. The only woman getting paid for her internship was 30 years old, working for the same salary as 19 year old men. Meanwhile I was making

This reminds me of the hilarious segment the Daily Show did a few weeks ago where they asked a group of black people and a group of white people how far we have to go to eliminate racism in the US. The black group said we were 7% there; the white group said we were 75% there.

Every time you talk about your past life in finance, I think about my current life in Big Law. This really hit home for me - the men at my firm are consistently paid more than women: due to the internal boys club situations, young male associates work with more senior lawyers and receive all of the perks

When your boss goes out drinking only with the guys it may not seem like sexism - but they are developing relationships/possibly discussing work in an environment without any of the female employees.

My friend Susan was competing from a promotion. She 's the cutest, littlest, blondest thing. She's also brilliant and hyper-competitive. Her dumbass boss actually told her that he gave the job to the man "because he needs it more, because he has a family to support." (Susan is a divorced mom, not receiving child

But...but you don't understand!!!
