I think I harp on this on every article about autonomous cars but the maintenance is going to be 100x more important on autonomous cars. Just because something is electronic doesn’t mean it won’t fail or can’t malfunction like a lot of people seem to believe. If autonomous cars would only be big in fleet use this

And some real driver’s ed. I know at least in my state of Texas it was a joke I learned everything from my parents who are good drivers but if I hadn’t been so lucky I would’ve been part of the problem.

According to insurance the average driver will get into a wreck once every 17 years. Since most of these will just be fender benders that’s actually pretty good odds, and although theirs 30,000 some-odd deaths from accidents a year there’s 250+million cars in America driving an average of 12,000 miles a year those are

4 microns of valve lash. How is Freddy gonna measure that when he buys one in 10 years?

It not cheap but the government will buy it.

I remember in the RCR for the civic Si he said that they tuned the North America cars for more torque rather than high end hp, could be something similar with this.

92-95 civic and del sol

You might be on the right track. It looks similar to my 92 civic headlight except for the curve at the bottom. I think we need to look down market and not just blame BMW

It’s because hillbilly trucks and Golf TDI’s are our only experience with diesel so people think it’s amazing. Also many enthusiasts think HP is “made up” and torque is the only thing that matters and that’s total BS.

If someone trades in a project like this to a dealer it’s a guaranteed CP

I’d like to thank you Mr. Liptak for not spoiling the article with the headline. To many writers across the different fiefdoms of the Kinja,Gawker whatever the name of the overlord is, spoil the article with the title and its just like “no point in reading it now”

Haha that’s awesome! Now I wish I could get a 7spd manual for my d series

Yea but that’s only the JDM transmissions that are illegal and you have to know a guy in Japan to get.

Or we could just make smaller engines that barely need 5th lol

Your right. Most offroaders get their power through gearing, it’s thousands of times more cost effective than building the engine. I can see swapping to a simpler motor for reliability and ease of maintenance but the turbo’s are unnecessary and kind of defeat the purpose of that.

Dude you need to get a kickstarter for that

Yea I remember reading Carroll Smith’s book how to use burnouts to determine if you have enough grip

But that much is unnecessary have you ever seen a wheel with “neutral” camber stick that far out during hard cornering

It’s not the factory alignment that causes the understeer. All cars come with a fraction of a degree of negative camber this much however is too much camber for performance, look at an F1 car you can barely see the camber even with very wide tires.

Well considering how many wrangler owners do actual jeep things with them yes I agree
