Yeah I don’t know much about coding but, I know the computer is just looking for data from a sensor. If the sensor starts throwing bad data the computer will just accept it, it has know way of verifying if it’s accurate.

What about when the sensor that tracks the car in front of it goes out? The car thinks everything is hunky dory and keeps going even though he’s braking now.
