Also true. I guess I'm not used to smaller details always being tracked, so I often think on them more than they might mean.

Well, we do know they've been poofed at least a few times! Have we seen them actually get scratched/cut up? It could easily just be a nice attention to detail, but it stood out to me a bit.

That's true, but there's also a lot of "steven rules are different then gem rules because he's half human" that happens throughout the series, so that's why I thought it might be different. It just feels odd from an animation standpoint to keep track of it so meticulously if it doesn't become a bigger plot point than

I see what you did there, and I'm scowling while I giggle. It's a feat, lemme tell you.

tho! Azula was never reformed, just got. Extremely sad. Forever.

Aang just took his bending away…??? He lived pretty definitively.

Aw, my favorite pet SU theory…*waves* though intrigue and ~muuuurder~ is p cool though.

There was a lot of attention paid to Steven's shirt rip in a similar way to Lapis' eyes when we first met her in Ocean & Mirror Gem (in any other case I might have expected the rip to disappear as soon as they got back to the barn). I wonder if corruption is transferrable through cuts?

I could see it either way, honestly. Lion is clearly related to Rose, and I don't think the Crystal Gems knew about him before Steven found him. It'd be interesting/horrific if Lion is some splintered off bit of a Rose Diamond that eventually became Rose Quartz, but I'm also into the idea that Rose destroyed/shattered

Is this the first time we've seen Steven take an actively combative approach to another Gem? Because oof. My heart.

I didn't know that! I wonder how/if it'll come into play

Pretty much! Which is why it's hard to pick one that would serve best for a route where they knock one of them off—I also really don't think they could discount the value of Garnet and Pearl as positive, *living* queer characters, in a show like this that's so much about love and the real-life impact it's had on

That would absolutely be the lamest. I'm thinking that maybe she's been bubbled because of corruption? I feel like they've been mentioning that a lot more lately, and we've seen bubbles act as ~stasis fields~ before

That's true. I'm also *really* tired of queer characters always biting the dust in all of the things, so I'd really hate to see them take that route.

It's not really that I want any of them to die, but the show is kind of about the aftermath and revival of a gem war. It seems like an avenue the show could choose to take, and it could be good from a story standpoint.

I'm kind of hand-wringing about it myself. I'd almost prefer to lose Pearl or Garnet, because they're so competent, and they've always been a sort of shelter for Steven (and Amethyst) to continue on as children, more or less. On the other hand, losing Amethyst could drive home the awful Homeworld bit in a way that

Well that'd be part of the point, wouldn't it? Greg had a line back in s1 about there being no such thing as a good war, and we've had at least mention of the tragedy of broken gems and fallen soldiers on all sides. Kind of a "nothing is sacred" moment might push the show too "serious," which makes me think it may not

I definitely had a ~panic~ moment when Jasper had Amethyst's gem in her hands—I was so sure she was going to be shattered. It doesn't seem beyond the pale at this point to lose a major character in the show to me.
