Have you tried a phone with a bigger screen? I thought it would be too big, but I got a Nexus S and its 4" screen is great; I wouldn't want anything smaller than that now. And in terms of the physical size of the phone, its about the same size as my gf's iPhone (but easier to hold because of its shape).
