It’s not petty to choose who you want to spend your time and energy with. The worry in this kind of situation is that you can end up living in a bubble of like minded people and noone learns anything from anyone else’s point of view.

I would encourage her to take the job! Look at it as a short term extra course like a 2 year masters she gets paid for. That experience on her cv would really open doors for next role!

Why did they have to wait for bankruptcy before doing this? Were they scared of financial repercussions if they did it when company was still there to be sued?
