The fact that this was settled with tax payer money should also be an issue or is your employer responsible for settling claims like this? Guess outside of government if your employer had to pay this they would at least have the option to fire you.

I think this is sensible advice. Key points being that she needs physical, logistical and financial support now with baby and that she is super hormonal so decisions are influenced.
