I've been binge-watching Weeds these past few weeks. I now love Jenji. This sounds awesome...but I'm a big fan of Fox's Sleepy Hollow. I guess I have a predilection to historical, spooky New England things.

The women in top jobs at my last office were the ones who took risks. The women who tried to be "nice" and keep their heads below the parapet were stuck in the middle and lower jobs.

I think the Right is good at focusing their hate one groups like "gays", "immigrants", "abortions" and "terrorists." That leaves them room to be uber-patriotic. I admire that the Democratic Party doesn't seem to use hate as a unifying force but it's seen as a weakness in the South.

I've been watching two British shows on PBS, Vera and Hebburn. Both shows are set in the Northeast of England. The writers make a point of using the term "pet" as a form of endearment by two motherly characters. So I figured it was a popular word in the Northeastern vernacular.
