I'd argue anything to do with the arts will be met with a "that's nice, dear" at best and a "get a real job!" at worst. Rap definitely gets the worst of it because, on the outside looking in, doesn't require as much work as say doing a fashion line or building weird metal statues.

I think certain philosophies resonate more with certain groups than others. I had to google solipsism and some of the results that came up seem to point out it's A. bizarre and B. Something no sane adult would adhere to. From my own understanding, I can see a lot of younger and immature people liking this philosophy.

For commercials and similar stuff it's good. Once you get to narrative stuff, we're lagging. As much as people want to bag on Tyler Perry, he really helped put Atlanta on the map. We need someone with that business mindset (and Tyler Perry is a great businessman) to make Texas the place to make stuff.

I think the big step is to get people from those areas involved with the creative process. The only show I can remember that used Queens as a setting was Ugly Betty and even then they didn't do much with it what with focusing on Manhattan.

The show's been off the air for a while along with Friday Night Lights. And there's somewhat of a film community in Austin, but with the recent cuts in the program I'm imagining more people are fleeing to other places.
