@UkraineNotWeak: I'm sure they'll be happy with the $8+ million dollars they'll be getting from FIFA.

@girlwonder: Sadly England was the runner up in group and will advance. I'll take the victory.

Soccer requires comparatively little from children but the ability to run after the ball - the risk of failure for anyone except maybe the goal keeper is zero. Even the strong chance that any given game will end in a tie makes it attractive for parents reluctant to impart life's difficult lessons to young kids.

@chuckv: Partially true. Soccer's popularity does have a lot to do with cheapness (or, more specifically, its simplicity, since all you need is a ball), but its roots were seeded throughout most of the world by the trade routes of the British Empire. Had the British invented and been crazy about basketball way back

@The Second Spitter: Well la di da! Lets all admire Mr. Moneybags and his fancy microwave.

When heating something up in the microwave, and it says 3 1/2 minutes or 4 1/2 minutes, I always hit 3:33 or 4:44 because I refuse to move my index finger the 8 miles from the 3 button all the way down to the zero. Do you do this?

@David Stern but Fair: Totally. I remember that call in game 1 where, despite instant replay, the refs still got the call wrong against the Celts. Glad they got a chance to make up for that.

How did they ever get Lucas to agree to that without having Greedo shoot first?

@I slept with your wife: I haven't, but more than one post this afternoon has OT comments which have clearly been transplanted from other Gawker blogs. It's kid of fun to guess where they came from and what the topic was.

Now it's time for a GREAT MOMENT IN RIPPING OFF THE PLOT OF AN OVERLONG TOM CLANCY BESTSELLER.

You'd be walking by a Starbucks and see a puddle of lady eggs, making you late for your 2PM meeting because you need to spermeate something fierce.

@Drew Magary: Steven Spielberg is a big pussy. Whenever he rode the Jurassic Park Ride at Universal Studios, which is basically a flume ride with a big ass drop at the end, he made them stop the ride so he could get off before said drop.

@Everything But the Current Sink: Not sure where pab claimed there was no victim or no crime committed. He said that the severity of what Taylor is accused of is less than the severity of murder. Which is correct.

@ifionlyhadabeard: What's this now? Black athletes sometimes commit crimes? I never would have guessed that since the media seems to be totally silent on the subject. Nope, I never hear anything about that in the press. No cameras outside arraignments, no arrest meters or Fulmer cups, or concerns about thugs and

@Nickly: Not a fan of Breaking Bad I see. No self respecting cooker works out of their home.

@Nickly: Almost as many as union mines.

@Nickly: Good thing he didn't succeed. They might not have had their jobs at the mine, and that would have been a tragedy.

@Nacireman: Incorrect. The Crompfish has made its new home off the coast of the Pacific.
