Possibly, though I think you can survive it. It probably hurts like hell but I don't think you're brains just start spilling out all over the place. Of course, being drunk on a boat in the middle of nowhere probably hurts your chances of getting the necessary medical care.

Being from OC and playing golf didn't seem to hurt Tiger's chances with the ladies.

That must be why my co-worker, for whom no casual Friday is complete without his Kings Jersey, shelled out a small fortune and is currently fighting LA traffic: to be "seen". I always though he was just a hockey fan.

Indeed, because the season ticket holders for an 8 seed in an a desert market probably don't really care that much about the sport.

Who asked them to shed tears? And is someone else getting screwed over supposed to make them feel better for getting screwed over? In an ideal sporting world no athlete would be denied a chance because of politics and power hungry bureaucrats.

And?

So you're saying that those 4 wouldn't be sympathetic to a fellow athlete who was screwed over in the same way that they were? What?

Is there some other list you're referring to? Or are you arguing that they should have their own spot?

1) Deadspin may be a virtual sausage fest, but there are still plenty of women who write, read and comment here. Some even spun off their own blog with a more lady centric focus on sports, and good on them. I read it regularly, its entertaining.

If there's a market for this, and that market consists primarily of women, I don't see what's sexist or misogynistic about it.

Which is being marketed as a way for women to enjoy the game, because of course no lady could ever enjoy the game just for the sake of the game itself. Their motto makes this pretty clear: ""sports commentary that women actually want to hear", which they define as "things that have nothing to do with the game". In

Except Deadspin never makes the assertion that certain groups of people could only ever possibly relate to football through a discussion of Ocho's tweets. Context matters.

I don't recall any such fan hatred. Plenty of sadness at the end of an era, some acceptance that his time was up. The only anger I remember was from fans who didn't want to acknowledge the truth and instead got mad at management for letting him go.

So true. I know lots of non-Science and non-engineering grads, and all they've ever manage to become are teachers, business folks, writers, translators, diplomats, accountants, lawyers, administrators, entertainers, social workers, and entrepreneurs.

Except that the 8-8 mark doesn't get you a league title, and winning 3 more games would only get you to the Super Bowl. And just because the format is good doesn't make the sport automatically good. Double round robin tiddlywinks is still tiddlywinks.

Stadium costs have skyrocketed in the last few decades. M & T would have cost way more today than it did in 1999. Even comparing it to Camden Yard next door is kind of shocking: 182 Million in 2012 dollars, built just 7 years before M & T.

So they are pay less than half of the cost for a stadium which will greatly increase their personal net worth? In a era where teams are contributing much higher percentages (up to and including 100%) for their new stadiums.

Sounds to me like people like the Vikings more than they like the Twins. There's nothing rational about it, just preference.

800 million is a lot, compared to the 325 that JJ got from Arlington, Texas, 300 Seattle had to fork out, or the 0 that the Jets and Giants got for Metlife. I can't find any new stadiums that cost the taxpayer anywhere near 800 million. This looks like a really shitty deal in comparison.

How many championships did Kobe win while the Lakers were babysitting Bynum on the bench, again, behind another high-school pick (#1 overall the same year Gasol was chosen)?
