There are a bajillion ways to do so on Elden Ring without a pause button. Worst case scenario, you can instantly fast travel to a safe spot. It takes literally about 5 seconds. Really not a big issue.

Tis is such a non-issue. There are roughly a million safe spots where you can go to step away for a while without being in danger of dying. It takes 5 seconds to fast travel to one of them. It really isnt difficult.
