Remember when Dodge built an Avenger sedan rally car? No one else does, either. That was a weird one to me.

The underpinnings are not the same as as Pajero/Montero. Delicas are unibody. Pajero/Montero are body-on-frame. They share a IFS/solid rear and some similar brake parts, but they are not the same chassis. 

It seems most states want you to register the vehicle in the state in which you live. Some states only give you 30 days to register your car in one state if it’s got plates from another. I mean, if we’re doing this in the name of safety, maybe we shouldn’t allow cars without airbags on the road? Maybe ban everything without ABS? Motorcycles—they should probably go away as well. Anyone find it odd that Maine, a state that’s banning Delicas in the name of safety, doesn’t require riders to wear a helmet?…

The USDM-spec version has the FMVSS sticker and Maine wouldn’t care at all. This seems to be the sticky point.
