It would have been even cooler if the evil drug was the white death... sugar.

It's really a shame that, from what we've been told/seen so far, this looks like a Hollywood bastardization of The Raid: Redemption.

Or do we endue a 5-6 week break sometime in October?

Fair enough - and I think that's something we can agree to disagree on. For me, the key to Baltar is the exchange he has with Head Six at the end of mini-series: "You're not on their side, Gaius." "I'm not on anyone's side." Yes, he's a weird, twitchy little bugger who thinks with his penis and unenlightened

Basically, I'm just saying 'give it a chance' ultimately.

For me, the interesting thing about '33' — which is a damn fine piece of television don't get me wrong — is that it's in many ways not a typical episode of BSG. But, boy, it sure grabbed you by the throat and refused to let go. Also it set up the rules of the game while making surprisingly few concessions to viewers

I kind of agree with you - but I still think the "proof of concept" and suebsequent re-working should be done BEFORE a show goes to air. Have you seen the unaired 60 minute pilot version of 'A Study in Pink' included as an extra on the DVDs of Sherlock? The British tabloids had a shit fit when it came out that TPTB

I saw complaints that the characters in Misfits weren't "likable" enough. My response: "Do you know, or have you ever been, a teenager? Hell, if I had access to a Tardis I'd like to slap my teenage self around a LOT and tell him to try really really hard not to be such an arsehole."

Battlestar Galactica - but at two different spots in the backdoor pilot/mini-series than Michael_GR.

I'd say another critical element is "Does it have a good sense of humor?"

I think you should give MOST shows at least 3 episodes, because shows are often different from the original pilot.

They did a pretty good job of populating the station with volatile characters suddenly forced to live together.

I've got a soft spot for Starship Troopers — which like Robocop I just take as a long, straight-faced black comedy. But I digress... :) Can't speak for anyone else, but what I find so frustrating about Falling Skies is that isn't "OMFG, scoop out my eyes now and make this agony stop" bad. There's a LOT of talent

I will happily accept that my grammar and syntax gets woozy around midnight, but I'm perfectly well aware what "epic" means - including "of unusually great size or extent". Which, IMO, perfectly describes genre fiction's long and far from distinguished history of playing fast and loose with offensive racist tropes.

I think it would be fair to say bad science in TV forensic/cop procedural shows is of a whole other magnitude. Blood work, tissue testing and DNA results take minutes instead of days (or weeks); insanely detailed bank and credit card records appear with a keystroke - and none of that tiresome nonsense about going to

I suspect it's the same reason Ed Norton insisted on changing the book's napalm recipes in Fight Club so it didn't work - to Chuck Palahniuk's displeasure. It's a gorgeous print, but I have my doubts Kevin Tong would welcome the publicity if it ended up as evidence in a meth lab bust. :)

It's basically always been a fun little sci-fi/apocalyptic romp, so I don't know how the show could have "lost its way" with bad writing and plot holes.

He'd laugh like Jabba the Hutt and have Steve Newlin as his Salacious Crumb and Eric as his Dancing Leia Slave.

Is it just me, or is nearly every ageless immortal being in this show dumb as hell?

Yeah, I'm kind of tempted to take back every unkind thing I've said about Jessica as soon as I can hire a truck and trailer to carry 'em all. But, since we're talking about THIS show, I'm sure it won't last. :)
